Dentures and Partials

Losing multiple teeth can be devastating in many ways. Chewing and eating become more uncomfortable and challenging, while smiling and talking with others may feel embarrassing due to gaps in your smile.

The good news? Full and partial dentures offer excellent options for patients missing multiple teeth. These appliances provide tooth replacement for a few missing teeth with a partial denture, or an entire upper or lower arch with a complete denture.

What Are the Benefits of Full or Partial Dentures?

Whether you need full or partial dentures, restoring your teeth offers several benefits for your smile and dental health.
Confidence Boost
When you replace missing teeth, you can smile with ease and confidence again.
Facial Structure
A full denture helps to restore your facial structure, which can collapse with tooth loss.
Chewing Function
A denture restores chewing function so you can chew, eat, and enjoy food once again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Proper denture care is essential for maintaining both your oral health and the longevity of your denture. We recommend establishing a daily cleaning routine that keeps your denture fresh, comfortable, and in excellent condition.

Denture Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Start by rinsing your denture after every meal to remove loose food particles and debris. Clean your denture at least once daily, preferably before bedtime. Use a soft-bristled denture brush or a regular soft toothbrush with mild dish soap or denture cleaner. Never use regular toothpaste, as it's too abrasive and can scratch the denture surface, creating spaces where bacteria can accumulate.

Hold your denture over a folded towel or basin of water while cleaning to prevent damage if you accidentally drop it. Gently brush all surfaces, paying special attention to areas that contact your gums and to any grooves where food particles can hide.

After brushing, rinse your denture thoroughly under running water. At night, place your denture in a denture-soaking solution or plain water to keep it moist and maintain its shape. Never use hot water, as it can warp the denture material.

Don't forget about your mouth! Even without natural teeth, you should gently brush your gums, tongue, and palate each morning with a soft toothbrush before inserting your denture. This stimulates circulation and removes bacteria.

What Is a Full Denture?

A full denture replaces an entire arch of teeth. The appliance is typically made of acrylic and thoughtfully designed by our dentists to restore your smile, chewing function, and facial structure.

A traditional denture is removable, and you’ll take it out at night to soak it for cleaning. We can also use dental implants to support a full denture and hold it securely in place, so there’s no movement or slippage when you’re talking or eating food.

What Is a Partial Denture?

A partial is also removable and designed to replace multiple missing teeth while helping you retain your healthy remaining teeth. Partials use metal or plastic clasps to stay in place. Strategically placed prosthetic teeth on the appliance fill the gaps in your smile.

How Do Implant-Supported Dentures Work?

Our dentists can also design a denture that snaps into two to six dental implants to restore an upper or lower arch of teeth. Dental implants provide stability and support for the denture, keeping it securely in place.

Implants also offer the added benefit of keeping the jawbone stimulated, so you don’t experience the deterioration that occurs with traditional denture wear. A traditional denture relies on bone support to stay in place, which can cause it to deteriorate over time.
