We recommend scheduling your child's first dental visit around age two or three, when most of their primary teeth have come in. This timing allows us to check their dental development, discuss proper oral hygiene techniques, and help your little one become comfortable with dental visits in a relaxed, positive environment.
Parents Can Lead By Example
However, we encourage you to start building that comfort level even earlier! Bringing your child along to your own dental appointments is a wonderful way to introduce them to our office. They can meet our friendly team, explore the office, and watch you during your visit. This exposure helps demystify the dental experience and shows them that dental care is a normal, healthy routine, nothing to worry about.
Plus, our team loves meeting our youngest future patients and making them feel welcome!
What to Expect at Your Child's First Dental Visit
During your child's first official dental visit, we'll gently examine their teeth and gums, provide guidance on brushing techniques, discuss the impact of nutrition on dental health, and answer any questions you may have about their oral development.
At James Blake, DDS, we're committed to making dental care a positive experience for your entire family. If you have questions about your child's dental health or would like to schedule their first appointment, please don't hesitate to contact our Hamburg dental office at (716) 648-2600.
